My vision is to improve the well being at workspaces

starting with improving the ergonomics at the office work space

To improve the ergonomics, we address the 3 ways we interact with the environment

  • Mechanical

  • Sensory

  • Behaviour

Starting with mechanical

our sitting posture and chair ergonomics

to fix the sitting posture

  • first we raise awareness of the correct sitting posture

  • provide solutions to existing infrastructure

  • design a better ecosystem

Humans were not designed to sit for long and only in the last 50 years of our million year evolution have we started to sit for more than 8 hours/day

Hence, design of work spaces and subject of ergonomics is very young and progressive

Problem

we are all quite aware of shrimp seating position

more than 20% of office workers have reported Lower back pain and cases of herniated disc is on the rise

thats because most of the furnitures we use in offices are designed for the common 50 percentile group and does not account for the individual differences

the objective is simple - just build a comfortable chair that can adapt to the individual to keep the most optimal posture.

the most optimal posture being the one which puts the least amount of stress on our body. That being we replicate the spinal posture of us standing/walking. It is also known as the pole position which makes us sit facing forward and we are more attentive and perform better. Opposite of it will be slouching where we are least attentive and struggle to finish tasks.

we achieve that by pushing our lumbar region forward and supporting the leaning thoracic region. And ofcourse by making the chair highly adjustable to suit the individual.

That solves the functionality of the design. In order to make a good design, it needs to have 3 things Purpose, function and accessibility.

In order to make it accessible it needs to easy to produce, relatively inexpensive, durable and available.

It would have to begin with design and make it more

Other ways to improve the sitting ergonomics is also by avoiding to sit for too long. that can be done by switching between sitting and standing desks. Or by taking a break every hour for 5 minutes aka “fika in Sweden”

“Vision to improve the well being of workspaces”

My focus is to improve the ergonomics of the office spaces

In order to do that, we address the 3 ways we interact with an environment

- Mechanical
- Sensory
- Behaviour

Mechanical

We are all aware of the shrimp sitting posture

More than 20% of office workers have reported lower back pain and cases of herniated disc is on the rise

The common cause is the modern office environment and sitting too long
our sitting posture is bad because most chairs are designed for the 50 percentile of the population not accounting for the individual needs

The objective is simple - to build a comfortable chair which can adapt to individual user offering the most optimal sitting posture.

The result is which the employee is highly attentive, motivated and finishes the task quickly. which in turn benefits the employer too.

The design of the chair has 4 individually adjustable regions. The seat, the Thoracic, the lumbar and the sacral.

The design would also satisfy 3 major goals, the purpose, the function and the accessibility. while also satisfying the durability, responsibility, affordability, availability.

The goal is to make a real difference and improve our society.
